After selecting or snapping an image for use with the background scale and move the image as desired.  Then press the icon (located in Grid slide out menu) called “Image Drag On.”  After locking the background image into place you will be able to scale and move your geometric shape and workspace tools.  Similarly you can lock the grid from moving by pressing on the “Pan On” icon.
